The NAU Platform, managed by the FCCN Unit of Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia (FCT), reinforces the importance of knowledge and protection in online purchases, with the Course “Consumidor Ciberseguro”, aimed at all people who buy or intend to buy online safely.
With the problem of personal data misuse and the security of online payment methods as a focus, this course aims to train trainees in choosing a safe and reliable online shopping website, as well as in choosing a secure payment method for online purchases, identifying signs of fraud in online sales, obtaining information on who to report in case of fraud in online purchases and gaining knowledge on online European consumer rights.
Pedro Barbosa Cabral, manager of the NAU project, says that “this course brings together all the essential information so that consumers can make their purchases online safely” and adds that “with this course, NAU’s goal is to provide the Portuguese with the necessary tools for a correct and effective use of online shopping and, in this sense, it intends not only to alert to the dangers, but also to share knowledge and tips that help citizens verify if they are adopting the safest practices.”
The course was developed in partnership with the Directorate-General for Consumers, the European Consumer Center, the Food and Economic Safety Authority (ASAE) and OLX, partners that involve the various areas of online consumption and, as such, support a course comprehensive view of the various views and issues that a consumer may face in their online experience.
