Tomorrow, February 11th, from 10:00 am, in Webinar format, the first session of the Workshop Cycle “Girls in Engineering and Technologies”, within the scope of the Engineers for a Day Project. This project aims to promote, among elementary and secondary school students, the interest and the option for engineering and technologies, in order to deconstruct the idea that these areas are more directed to male students.
In the first session, the topic “Girls in Science Day: Is Engineering Science?” will be addressed. and counts on the participation of Maria Helena Braga (Professor and Head of the Department of Physical Engineering of the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto), Margarida Serra (assistant Professor invited at the Faculty of Sciences and Technology of Universidade Nova and coordinator at iBet) and Cláudia Soares (invited assistant professor at Instituto Superior Técnico and researcher at the Institute for Systems and Robotics – Lisbon).
The theme “A small step for Women…A big step for Humanity” will be debated at 2:30 pm, in the presence of Rosa Monteiro (Secretary of State for Citizenship and Equality), Ana Afonso and Sílvia Vicente (Astrophysics), Vera Gomes (Coordinator of European Policies in the area of Space), Andreia Nunes (Writer and Researcher at CIES-IUL), Fernando Carvalho (Professor, Writer and Journalist) and Ana Lorena (Editor).
The Workshop Cycle will take place between February and May, with several important dates for the project.
