Action – MAKE CODE, programa o teu futuro
Description – “MAKE CODE: PROGRAMA O TEU FUTURO”, developed by Fundação da Juventude, was created to improve the digital skills of the young population, promoting the increase in the levels of Digital Literacy of this population. It is a project to support Education, which uses learning tools based on computer games involving students and that reinforces their motivation in learning, facilitating the educational task of Teachers.
“MAKE CODE: PROGRAMA O TEU FUTURO” is aimed at young people attending the 1st, 2nd and 3rd cycle of basic education, aged between 6 and 15, and teachers who are part of the Educational Territories of Priority Intervention (TEIP) of the North.
This project stimulates and reinforces the domains of digital literacy and digital skills, in the younger sections of the population of schools that are located in economically and socially disadvantaged territories, characterized by poverty and social exclusion, where violence, indiscipline, abandonment and school failure are more noticed.
MAKE-CODE provides Teachers with the tools they need to teach their Students to program using Micro:bit (a microcontroller board) and Minecraft: Education Edition. The project is free and teachers of all subjects can participate, even if they do not have any programming knowledge. Each Teacher receives support in the implementation of these technologies in the classroom, for each of their classes, through training aimed at Teachers and Students. It is prepared to take place in face-to-face or online format.
Schools also receive, for free, Micro:bit kits and Minecraft: Education Edition Licenses for use by Students and Teachers involved in MAKE CODE.
