OLHÓ ROBOT

OLHO-ROBOT

Promoter – Jazz ao Centro Clube

Action – Olhó Robot

Description – “Olhó Robot!” is a digital inclusion project, aimed at children from 8 to 10 years old.

At OR, several topics are developed in Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics (CTEAM) and the relationships between technology, everyday life and the planet we inhabit. The project arises within the scope of the work developed by E JACC – Serviço Educativo do Jazz ao Centro Clube.

“Olhó Robot!” was designed based on the following premises:

– Arts and Science are paramount to sustainable development. The transmission of this knowledge is a cultural right;

– School-age children should be able to acquire functional, social and emotional skills relating to the recognition of diversity, creativity, heritage and digital tools;

– Schools, educational centers, associations and economic agents can and should participate in scientific and artistic creation and mediation activities, from residencies for artists to training on creativity ;

– The cultural processes inherent to artistic practices and scientific and technological experimentation have an impact on well-being.

The intermediate goal is to put 200 children aged between 8 and 10 years old, living in the Coimbra Municipality, in direct and experimental contact with the universe of project themes, through itinerant laboratories developed in a school context. The ultimate goal is to mobilize as many children and teachers as possible around an experimental project and obtain “objects” that can be used for play/art/demonstration.

“Olhó Robot” focuses on curricular guidelines for ICT and for Arts Education with regard to the essential learning of students in primary school. It includes the training of students and teachers and is based on a playful-pedagogical model focused on CTEAM, with special emphasis on programming and music.
