Action – Programa BrightStart
Description – Pilot education program developed in partnership with Deloitte Portugal and the Polytechnic Institute of Setúbal. It seeks to contribute to the education and employability of young people and to complement the academic curriculum with a very practical component of work, in a real environment, integrating project teams. It is aimed at high school finalists, who will be assigned a long-term internship, which guarantees the resources to complete the program. At the end of the training, they will have acquired digital and technological skills that will put them at an advantage when integrating the labor market.
The program is based on Work Based Learning, a term used to describe a class of university programs that bring together universities and organizations to create new learning opportunities in the workplace. It is based on strong program leadership, exclusive links between the program and its environment (niche market), frequent and effective communication with the Deloitte partner, with Deloitte collaborators involved from the elaboration of the program structure and content creation, as well as in teaching some more technical and specific content the market requires, such as Guidewire, TIA, ServiceNow, OutSystems and SAP, among others.
The teaching/learning methodology focused on creating conditions for the three fundamental success factors in terms of learning (practice, discuss, teach) to become important elements of the process. Learning will be meaningful if the student is the main actor in their learning and the teacher is a student driver. Group and classroom work, various assessment moments, a mix of summative and formative assessment elements and the Moodle platform were used in the teaching/learning process, in order to ensure that the proposed objectives were met. The results achieved demonstrated the adequacy of the methodology used.
