Description –Bot Olympics is an educational and training event that aims to show the world of robotics from a fun and a little more simplistic point of view in order to captivate younger minds for a huge area, which is actually the future. of the world around us. The 2022 edition will be the seventh of this event, with 140 participants coming from schools across the country, 50 staff members and 30 mentors (students or former students of electrical engineering).
This competition has three tests running simultaneously, a test dedicated to basic education, secondary education and a third to higher education. The event takes place in the “hackathon” style for four days, where participants will have to develop ways to achieve the objectives of each of the competitions in which they are inserted. The final of the competitions is played in the central square of one of the biggest shopping centers in Coimbra, Alma Shopping.
Simultaneously with the competition, the event will also have numerous surprises designed for the participants, such as demonstrations, talks, workshops and lightning challenges, enhancing contact with Coimbra and academia. In addition, on February 19, at Alma Shopping, Bot Kids will take place, allowing children to learn about robotics through interactive demonstrations.
Given the wide age range of the participants, this is a unique competition in Portugal as it brings together, in the same space, for 4 days, participants from elementary to higher education. For all this, Bot Olympics presents itself as an educational event of broad inclusion, ensuring access to new technologies and digital knowledge to a large age group, thus broadening the horizons of all interested parties.
