Action – Project “Ciência da Computação”

Description  “Ciência da Computação” includes the areas of Computational Thinking, Programming, Robotics, Artificial Intelligence, Virtual and Augmented Reality.

Computational thinking and programming are implemented together, and can also be articulated with a third dimension among the following options: Robotics, Virtual and Augmented Reality or Artificial Intelligence.

Participation in the Computer Science Project implies that IT teachers propose it in their schools, to be integrated as a School Offer, Complement to Artistic Education, Workshop, Club or other initiative created within the scope of  Schools’ Flexibility and Autonomy.

Schools in mainland Portugal and in the Autonomous Regions of Madeira and the Azores can join.

Goals:

  • To apply principles and concepts of Computer Science in the development of activities for students;
  • To implement, through the problem solving methodology, a set of strategies aimed at finding problem solutions;
  • To explore the concepts of computational thinking and programming through problem identification and decomposition;
  • To explore programming structural components (variables, decision and repetition structures, etc.) that respond to the needs of problems and projects to be developed with students, available in the programming environment, in the learning support tool;
  • To implement a logical sequence to solve the problem, based on the fundamentals associated with programming logic and using programming structural components;
  • To create problem-based learning scenarios that integrate computational thinking, programming, robotics, virtual and augmented reality, and artificial intelligence;
  • To integrate content (text, image, sound and video) based on problems to be solved that stimulate students’ creativity in creating products (games, animations, interactive stories, simulations, etc.);
  • To analyze and reflect on the solution found and its applicability and, if necessary, reformulate the logical sequence for problem solving;
  • To share the developed learning scenarios.
