Code Up

PROGRAMMING, DESIGN AND PRODUCTION OF DIGITAL GAME COURSE

Promoter – António Durão, Code.Up

Action – Programming, Design and Production of Digital Games Course

Description – This action will take place in Figueira da Foz on a face-to-face basis (complying with all DGS standards) and/or on an E-Learning basis (it is possible to have both situations simultaneously in this type of courses, something they have been doing for 3 years), in Aveiro under the same conditions.

They present a curriculum in the area of technological literacy development for children from 8 years old, structured to provide, during all courses and in a transversal and evolutionary way, a differentiating learning experience, since they have the contents elaborated to create strong technical and non-technical skills (soft-skills) from a curricular plan.

During the first 15 months, (of the students who joined CodeUp on 6/18/2018, 90% are still attending regular classes),  students, in addition to learning all the fundamentals of programming languages, algorithms, programming fundamentals by objects and miscellaneous types of projects,  also learn a strong component of entrepreneurship, have mentoring sessions with partners, learning and pitch simulation to be able to present their projects in public (the 1st class launched CodeWeek 2019 in Figueira da Foz (I am Leading Teacher of the project).

They are recognized as one of the most innovative schools in Portugal, having received public recognition (in video) from the CEO of the Digital Games World Cup, Ian Rochelin.

They have been working with some gifted children (where they will be one of the speakers of the national association of gifted children, on 22/23 October) and will present the CodeUp project and the way they transmit the “millennium skills – World Economic Forum” to students.

The idea is to certify the active course individually or on the way, because they are constantly starting with students and with classes.
