SCRATCHONROAD

Promoter – Centro de Apoio Social de Pais e Amigos da Escola nº10 de Coimbra

Action – ScratchOnRoad

Description – Activity aimed at students in the 4th grade (1st cycle), carried out on a roaming basis, in an academic component and integrating the curricular activities of the class. Its goal is to develop skills in the area of scratch language programming, allowing, at the same time, the development of fundamental transversal skills for academic and personal life, project work and an approximation of students to the community and from this to the students/classes , through sponsorship by companies/institutions.

This activity is developed in different phases, considering the dynamics of the school year:

1. Presentation of the investing company (Social Investor) to the classes it supports: through a visit by the students to the company itself or from the company to the school.

2. Definition, by the company, of the subject to be worked on, and then the children decide which product they will develop according to the theme presented. It will always be a topic related to the company and that responds to the pedagogical objectives of the class and related to the curricular guidelines of basic education (education for citizenship, environmental education, education for health, road education, among others).

3. In the First Term, pedagogical activities are developed with students and teachers that allow the development of skills in Scratch. This stage lasts for about 3 months.

4. In the Second Term, different challenges are posed to students, which allow the development of social skills, research work on the topic they are developing, creation of dynamic materials and continuous promotion of work autonomy.

5. The third academic period is dedicated to the planning and development of the pedagogical product in Scratch programming, which reflects the learning acquired in the previous phases. At this stage, the trainer has a guiding role, allowing the students’ creativity and autonomy to allow the production of differentiating materials.

6. All products developed within the scope of the project are returned to the investing companies, which may later use them as a form of communication or dissemination of their Social Responsibility within the community.
