“MINHO MANIFESTO ON EUROPEAN HPC FOR SCIENCE AND INNOVATION” PROMOTES RESEARCH AND INNOVATION THROUGH HIGH PERFORMANCE COMPUTING

“Minho Manifesto in high-performance computing for science and innovation” was presented on June 18, during the High-Performance Computing for Science and Innovation Roundtable – Bringing together the new five European HPC petascale systems”, which takes place within the scope of the Portuguese Presidency of the Council of the European Union, at University of Minho.

The event had the participation of speakers such as the Minister of Science, Technology and Higher Education, Manuel Heitor; the Minister for Education, Research and Innovation of Slovenia, Simona Kustec; the European Commissioner for Innovation, Research, Culture, Education and Youth, Mariya Gabriel; Portuguese MEPs Maria Manuel Leitão Marques and Graça Carvalho and several scientific and business leaders, together with those responsible for the new five high-performance computing systems (HPC) installed in Portugal, Slovenia, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic and Luxembourg.

 “Minho Manifesto on European HPC for Science and Innovation” foresees the creation of a European collaborative network in order to promote research and innovation through high performance computing.
